However, after downloading again I went to the System preference to get it to conform that there were no updates available and that's when the problem arose. I had forgotten that the former "green square" indicating protection had been replaced by green lettering in the URL box so there was probably no need to reinstall anyway.

However, a "clean out" of safari made me think it had somehow become detached from Safari so i decided to download and install again.
I have used Trusteer (in blind faith that it is actually doing what it says) for a long time without any trouble.
If the etre doesn't help then I'll contact IBM direct. I had the uninstaller on the iMac (since originally downloading TR several moons since).
